    DE Joe K5EJL:

Paul M. Hargis, W5KA (SK), Birthday Celebration by Joe Fisher, K5EJL ARRL Technical Specialist and CLM (and self-appointed AARC Historian). It’s now become an “every year” thing: the Paul Hargis Birthday Bash. January 12, 1907, was the birth date of Paul Hargis, born right here in Austin. Like last year, let’s do it again at Waterloo Ice House, Burnet Road. And remember, 2019 is the year that we consider to be AARC’s centennial year.

Where: Waterloo Ice House, 8600 Burnet Rd

When: Saturday, January 12, 6:30 p.m. ‘til whenever

As usual your club Historian will pick up the first round, so don’t be too late. Bring show-and-tell (of any kind) if you have some.

Surprisingly, we've receive no articles for the contest. With only three days left, it looks like we may need to extend or withdraw the contest.  Come on, folks!  The ARRL Antenna Book is a pretty good prize for a little effort.

Did you notice that the VHF propagation map at http://aprs.mountainlake.k12.mn.us/ was offline for a while? Well. It is back online and is now using OpenStreetMaps (in lieu of Google Maps). They still have more work to do on the site, but it is starting to take shape. If you go to the main page, you'll see the tasks that are being worked on. On the left side of the page, near the top, there is a link to see the map progress. Click that link to see the live map.
